What is HAPPINESS?
The Dalai Lama has said that the purpose of human life is to be happy.
But at first the question is, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY HAPPINESS?
Often when we are young , we equate happiness with pleasure and sensual enjoyment. And as we grow older and older we may equate it more with security and amount of money we have and may also with our good health. So it's necessary to realize that all these levels of happiness are based on the external circumstances which play minute role in our happiness than we believe it to be.
As we relate happiness with money, but let me tell you that it is the illusion that money brings us happiness. But experience has shown, that it brings "fear", a fear of its loss, or to keep it up among the peers and many more.
Happiness should not be a goal. When we do so, it just escapes away.
So now coming back to the question: What do we actually mean by happiness?
According to my experience, happiness comes when you are fundamentally okay with life as it is and no longer you are attached to the demand that my life should be in this or that way.
Happiness always comes from within and it can never depend on our external life circumstances until we are able to make ourselves in such a way. There is no path that is fixed to the happiness, neither happiness look any particular way, but there is something in each of us that connects us with what is most real. In short, making happiness a goal will not make you happy but it comes with the way of appreciating your journey, particularly the present moment of our life.
When I say being happy, it doesn't mean being cheerful all the time. Obviously it can be included, but the genuine happiness is to also side by side accept the painful aspect of life. It may be difficult to understand how can someone be happy in the worst condition of the life and the ongoing sufferings?
It may at times be very difficult, but in fact, its possible.
So BE HAPPY, BE ATTRACTIVE.
So BE HAPPY, BE ATTRACTIVE.
